The Benefits of Aloe Vera and Distilled Water Spray For Natural Hair

The Benefits of Aloe Vera and Distilled Water Spray for Natural Hair

Caring for natural tightly textured hair and locks can sometimes be a challenge, but with the right ingredients, it's possible to maintain healthy, beautiful hair. One such powerful duo is aloe vera and distilled water. This simple yet effective combination offers numerous benefits for maintaining and enhancing the health of your hair.

Moisturizing and Hydration

Aloe vera is renowned for its moisturizing properties. It contains a high water content, which makes it perfect for hydrating dry, thirsty hair. For natural tightly textured hair and locks, moisture is essential as it helps to maintain elasticity and prevent breakage. When mixed with distilled water, aloe vera provides a potent hydrating spray that penetrates the hair shaft, leaving it soft, supple, and well-moisturized. Distilled water, unlike tap water, is free from minerals and impurities that can contribute to dryness and buildup, ensuring that your hair receives pure hydration.

Soothing and Healing

Aloe vera is packed with vitamins, enzymes, and amino acids that promote healing and soothe the scalp. For those with sensitive scalps or conditions such as dandruff, aloe vera's anti-inflammatory properties can provide relief from itching and irritation. Regular use of an aloe vera and distilled water spray can help maintain a healthy scalp environment, which is crucial for hair growth and overall health.

Promotes Hair Growth

The enzymes present in aloe vera help to remove dead skin cells from the scalp, which can clog hair follicles and impede new hair growth. By keeping the scalp clean and free from debris, aloe vera allows for optimal hair growth. Additionally, the vitamins and minerals found in aloe vera, such as vitamins A, C, and E, promote healthy cell turnover and enhance hair growth.

Strengthens Hair

Aloe vera contains proteolytic enzymes that help repair dead skin cells on the scalp, and it also acts as a great conditioner that leaves your hair smooth and shiny. The natural plant compounds in aloe vera help to strengthen the hair shaft, reducing breakage and shedding. When used regularly, an aloe vera and distilled water spray can help fortify your hair, making it more resilient to everyday wear and tear.

Enhances Manageability

One of the challenges of managing natural tightly textured hair and locks is dealing with tangles, frizz and decreasing friction. Aloe vera's natural protective slip makes it easier to reduce the risk of breakage by decreasing friction. The distilled water helps to soften the hair, making it more manageable and easier to style. This combination can be particularly beneficial for those with locks, as it helps maintain their neat appearance without causing buildup.

Adds Natural Shine

Aloe vera is known for its ability to enhance the natural shine of hair. The enzymes in aloe vera help to remove the dead cells and excess oil that can make hair appear dull. Regular use of an aloe vera and distilled water spray can restore your hair's natural luster, giving it a healthy, vibrant look.

How to Make Aloe Vera and Distilled Water Spray

Making your own aloe vera and distilled water spray is simple and cost-effective. Here’s a quick recipe:

Prep: Wash the fresh aloe leaf to remove any dirt. Cut the leaf into 2-3 inch pieces. Then trim away the green outer rind and remove any of the outer pulp. Place the aloe gel pieces on a paper towel for a minutes to absorb any of the aloe latex that maybe left behind (it will stain the paper towel yellow to brown). Rinse the aloe gel under water. Use one 2 inch x 3 inch piece for the recipe below. Freeze the remainder of the aloe gel pieces for use in another recipe.

Ingredients:

Fresh 2-inch x 3-inch piece of aloe inner pulp gel (properly prepared from fresh leaf)

3/4 cup of distilled water

A few drops of essential oil (optional for your specific hair and scalp needs)

A few drops of raw honey (a natural preservative for aloe)

Instructions:

Place the fresh aloe inner pulp gel piece in a blender with the distilled water for 30-60 seconds. Strain through a mesh strainer.  Then add your honey and essential oil if using and mix until combined well.  Store in the refrigerator for best results.

Shake well before each use.

Spray lightly on your hair and scalp, focusing on the ends and any dry areas.

Note: Remember this creates a light layer of protection on your hair and scalp. It does not need to be done daily.  You may notice some tiny dry flakes of product if you have applied to much, just rinse your hair. Aloe is water soluble and does not build up on the hair but it may flake if too much has been applied.

Incorporating an aloe vera and distilled water spray into your hair care routine can bring multiple benefits, especially for natural highly textured hair and locks. With its hydrating, soothing, and strengthening properties, this powerful combination can help maintain healthy, beautiful hair. So, join the natural hair movement and embrace the wonders of aloe vera and distilled water for your hair care needs! 🌿💧✨
